Training

February 1, 2009
So the trip to Pattaya has yet to work out. Its now Monday out here and we were supposed to go to Pattaya after Sats training. I guess when you have reservations 2 wks ahead of time, and you get a confirmation, its still not enough. Back to the training though, Sat I skipped the morning trainin so we could get our stuff lined up for the trip to Pattaya. After geting no response, I decided we would be here a few more days and the night training was 30min, then pads with Dum again. This time he decided to show me to cover my opponents mouth while in the clinch, once I smelled Dums Hands, I became a bit concerned for my health. WOW! potent! Dum demonstrates on himself by covering his own mouth and realized that he needs some soap and told me sorry. haha. I was like COOL! No more covering the mouth trick until we get some DIAL on them mofos. Pads have been pretty consistent though. Working some of the same counters and moves that he has been showing me. Once you spend a few days together, you can figure each other out and know what to expect from one another. There are a few cool tricks that Dum has showed me that may not work for MMA but are still cool to train with. Spinning elbows and jump kicks. Its fun! As I see the little kids doing push ups between rounds, I figured I better do the same so Im picking up on some of there secrets. Somethings I leave alone like the whole not washing hands trick, i think ill keep my hands clean and add the push ups between rounds to the arsenal of training. I just read my last entry and realized that when I write these entries, im half asleep or half awake, not too sure which but my writing skills are not too good? haha, thats why I fight and not write actual reports right? After being here for a few days now, Ive dropped about 7 lbs. I may need to stay at 155. Sunday was just a 30min run and a trip tp MBK, a 5 story mall that is endless. A million shops for us to hangle and buy things from that i dont need. Its like a flea market in one place then it turns into an actual mall in another. Most of the items are cheap, Red Bull shirts are around $5. There are a few lil shops that have Muay Thai figures and cool little things that you would not find in the US. Some of the guys try to rip you off and others give you a good deal. You can hagle back and forth but I have a price that I plan to pay for certain items and if the guy meets me at this price, its good, if they offer me a price thats crazy expensive, I walk away with them saying \"how much you pay, how much you pay\" by this time, im done with them though. 1 guy wanted to charge me $80 for some 16oz gloves that i can get for $35. This mornings training was a late wake up to the roosters yelling at each other, my alarm did not go off. I could not sleep last night and hit the bed at 10:30pm and feel asleep at around 2am. right now, Im tired as heck. I woke up to the roosters screaming and people smacking the pads as usual. Its funny to hear the roosters, there are 2, 1 of them does his thing like a normal rooster, then the other 1 follows but its not your typical crowing. It starts like the same then the end is just like you scratch the needle on the record. Its so funny. its funny now, not at 5am. I wanna smack the thing. Training was 5 rds of the typical 75% kicks and knees to 25% or so of hands. When Dum and I are in sync, it flows smooth. Catching kicks and countering with kicks. Its so Thai style. Speaking of in sync. the drivers are freaking crazy out here, they all drive in and out of lanes and swerv and drive in the emergency lane and make up things as they go but no one really honks or gets mad. It seems that there all on the same page too, 1 swervs and the other just rolls with it like when I step out of the way when my little girl is running by. I finished my training with some plank drills with my wife and Oscar. Where we put all the weight of our body on our tips toes and for arms. Like holding a push up position but on your fore arms. Then I hit the treadmill for a 30min run. Dum said he wants to spar latter but im not too sure if thats a good idea because he lets go and starts tossing elbows in the mix. Receiving a cut would not be a good thing while out here.
