Training

January 29, 2009
This mornings training started at 730am. I went straight to the pads with Dum. 45 min of real light pads, within my 4 min rd, i actualy work for about 2 min in total. between the explaination and Dum taken a lil break between the combo, it ends up being about 2 min of actual work. Its good though, as I have said earlier in my logs, im here to learn and have fun. Today was Dums day to show even a bit more tricks that before and he started spinning and doing jump kicks like ong bak. Dum told me that hes 48, once I heard that, I was surprised at his agility and ability to hold mitts all day and demonstrate some of the things he does. Im in the computer room right now, I guess thats a given right? Anyway, theres a Huge flat screen in here and the guys are watching the Ultimate Fighter session 2, most of the guys have no clue about the UFC, its freaking weird to me that these Muay Thai guys have no idea of the UFC. WTF right? Most of the crew walk around with there chins held high and chests bulged out. Theres no real sparring here, they all just hit bags and pads an dnever really get cracked in the face so that little piece of reality doesnt really exist here. Amoung the students that is. My trainer knows that when I mes up a combo, I never hitm by mistake. That is 1 rule in the gym I teach at or when I teach privates, the pad holder should not get hit, ever. Your controlling YOU, even if your doing the combo correct and the pad holder messes up, you should have the control to pull the strike. Oh ya, the mall last night, my wife and I hit the mall and found it was the exact same as the US. The prices were the same, 80% of the stores were the same, express, bath and body works and Sizzler. It was funny, of course star bucks too. On the ride back to the camp, I must have counted 17 stray dogs, the Thais have not animal control and the dogs run around skinny and dirt looking. With me being an animal lover, its hard for me to watch this. I want to take every dog home and teach the Thais to spay and neutur these guys. OK, todays my anniversary and the wife and I are going to hit 1 of the 2 top stadiums which is Lumpinee. Ive always wanted to go to Lumpinee and tonight is the night, im excited. When i was 15 watching Thai fights with my first trainer James Tigrett, I wanted to go and watch fights here. Its going to be another world for sure. The way it works out here, you become the champion of a stadium, you do not become and UFC or Strikeforce or WEC champion. Like in Kickboxing or boxing in the states, you become and sanctioning body champion, like ISKA for kickboxing or WBC for boxing. Oh ya, here goes another A.D.D episode for me, earlier today and yeaterday, my trainer and now another trainer asked me if I wanted to fight in Lumpinee. All though it would be a great experience, im not too sure about the whole medicals out here. HIV especially. I passed on the offer, plus fightnig for free has not been on my menu since I had a baby and a mortgage. Maybe in the future sometime, but i think id have to get some tests done on the opponent first. OK, Im getn off the computer, i hope things are going good for all, thanks for visiting.
